doctors and staff providing essential medical care. The Maples, located
in Honea Path is one of the premier assisted-living facilities in South
Carolina, providing a wonderful home for retirees and has adjacent
nursing home care as well.
The Historic Watkins Center is the center of
many of the towns activities and services. Located within the former
Watkins Elementary School are Town Hall, the Museum and Watkins Center
Auditorium which is used extensively for events, gatherings and
celebrations.
Honea Path is not lacking on historical
architecture as many century-old homes remain in fine condition and
enjoyed by third and fourth generations. One of the few small towns in
America with such a distinction, the Andrew Carnegie library is a gem of
architecture and reference.
A full time recreation program for the youth
is provided by the Honea Path Recreation Department which includes
multiple ball fields and a public swimming pool still in operation,
having been built by Chiquola Textile Manufacturing during the booming
years of textiles. Honea Path also boasts one of the finest grass-field
airports in the state with two runways and numerous aircraft hangars.
The Upstate’s wonderful natural resources are
second to none with beautiful mountains and the incredible, large lakes
of the Savannah River valley. Just north, the Blue Ridge Mountains form
the oldest mountain range in America. South Carolina’s Golden Corner is
abundant with scenic beauty, pastoral scenes, rivers and waterfalls.
Within several hours drive, South Carolina’s
coast offers exclusive golf and resort areas along with the rich,
